Good morning from Balatonboglár, Hungary

Sunny summer mornings are literally meant to be spent outside.

Definitely not by oversleeping!

And that’s just what I did. I spent one beautiful sunny morning on the Balaton lake, in one of my most favourite villages around.

Balatonboglár is located on the southern side of the lake, right by the M70 highway and it’s way more peaceful than its sister (or bro?) Balatonlelle lying just a few kilometres northerly. Besides really neat and lovely beaches, many playgrounds (what makes it a great destination for families with children), cafés, restaurants, bars and an aquapark you’ll also find there another interesting spot. Balaton is, unlike other parts of Hungary, surrounded by uplands, so there is much space for outlooks. And right above Balatonboglár is standing, as for me, the most architecturally attractive one. Gömbkilató is open daily from 9am to 21am and from its platform perched at 15 meters you’re offered a broad view over the lake and Somogy Megye (county basically) underneath you. And if you feel like a shorter walk…you should definitely try strolling down one of the many parks by the shore. 🙂

Have a nice day!
